Our commitment
Everyone working on behalf of Nutrigirls has a responsibility to recognise, respond to and report concerns about a child’s welfare.
Working in schools
When delivering a programme, Nutrigirls follows the safeguarding and child-protection policies of the host school or academy trust.
A member of school staff must be present during every session. Nutrigirls team members do not work alone with an individual pupil, and all communication with pupils takes place through the school rather than through personal email accounts, telephone numbers or social-media channels.
Our safeguarding standards
Bonnie, Nutrigirls’ Safeguarding Lead, is an experienced school teacher. She holds an enhanced DBS certificate and has recently completed updated safeguarding training based on Keeping Children Safe in Education.
Nat and Niamh hold standard DBS certificates.
Nutrigirls takes appropriate steps to:
- maintain clear and appropriate professional boundaries;
- create an environment in which pupils feel safe, respected and able to participate;
- respond sensitively and appropriately if a pupil shares a concern;
- protect children’s personal information;
- obtain the express permission of both the pupil and their parent or guardian before taking or publishing photographs, videos or testimonials; and
- follow the safeguarding arrangements agreed with each school.
Responding to a concern
If a pupil makes a safeguarding disclosure or a Nutrigirls team member becomes concerned about a child’s welfare, the concern will be reported promptly to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Nutrigirls will not investigate the concern independently. Where necessary, the school or Nutrigirls will refer the matter to the appropriate statutory service in accordance with the school’s procedures and applicable safeguarding guidance.
Concerns about a Nutrigirls team member
Any safeguarding concern relating to the conduct of someone working on behalf of Nutrigirls should be reported to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead and/or to the Nutrigirls Safeguarding Lead.
The concern will be handled in accordance with the school’s safeguarding procedures and referred to the appropriate authority where required.
